Trellis Earth® bags incorporate biomass to improve biodegradability -- lowering the amount of oil needed to make a trash liner or shopping bag, while helping to insure the bag will more quickly degrade in the presence of other bioactive material in a landfill. These bags do NOT conform to ASTM 6400 standard for compostability, however they contain more biomass than many that are certified by the BPI and others. Reducing our use of shopping bags, and reducing the oil per bag used, are both important goals.
