Communities across the country have been taxing or banning the use of plastic grocery bags – and for good reason. Don’t cut down trees for bags, use our grocery bags! They are made from biodegradable ingredients so they are earth friendly and easier on the environment. Our bags have handle cuts for check-out wickets, and they are designed to be easy to open so upgrading to these T-shirt bags is easy – and the right thing to do! These bags are a great way to get started on the biodegradable path and are better for the environment than either paper or plastic! Trellis Earth® bags incorporate biomass to improve biodegradability -- lowering the amount of oil needed to make a trash liner or shopping bag, while helping to insure the bag will more quickly degrade in the presence of other bioactive material in a landfill. These bags do NOT conform to ASTM 6400 standard for compostability, however they contain more biomass than many that are certified by the BPI and others. Reducing our use of shopping bags, and reducing the oil per bag used, are both important goals. Trellis Earth® film products are unique in the methods by which they incorporate and polymerize plant starch, reducing the amount of oil used per bag significantly.
